At Horsebox Workshop we specialise in the sale and care of 3.5T horseboxes. We are now supplying what we feel is a hybrid between a traditional Coach built horsebox and a van conversion. Van conversions have the advantage of being very safe and solid, mainly because they retain much of the original van body. They are also easy to handle and maneuver, don’t need designated parking areas like some larger vehicles and are often more economical to buy. But many van conversions can feel a bit cramped and dark. And some have an internal height only really suitable for the transport of small horses and ponies. The crossovers we are now featuring have a specially moulded and extended roof to allow for 7ft 8in in head height, comparable to a traditional horsebox. A popular safety feature that many modern horseboxes are now adapted for is the ‘emergency exit’: Wide back doors and collapsible breast bars to enable a rear exit, should the ramp be compromised. With that in mind, the crossovers feature a jockey door/ breast bar, wide enough for a horse to exit through in an emergency. At Horsebox Workshop we make light and ventilation a priority. So all our new builds come with four windows and an opening skylight as standard. Reversing and internal horse area cameras plus a cab to horse area inspection window are also standard features. This means that the horse area can be monitored from the cab at all times.
